Fun Day at 'Les Planards' FRANCE

The 3rd organised AADC Charity Fun Day on 1st June 2008, at Les Planards, in Chamonix, France, was suppose to be a happy occasion for Lise and Nicolas.  Their son, Romain, affected by AADC deficiency, was making good progress on his medication and his physio therapy programme.


A couple of weeks before the day, Lise and Nicolas had brought their little boy home after he had spent weeks in intensive care.  In hospital a routine operation went horrifically wrong.  Shortly after arriving home from this routine operation, Romain had to be emergency airlifted to a children’s hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.  He put up the bravest battle of his little life.  Over the next three weeks, Lise spent every hour by Romain’s side, sleeping on a camp mattress on the floor of Romain’s hospital room, so she would be on call 24 hours a day.  Nicolas meanwhile, struggled with the 200 mile round trip to hospital as and when his job allowed.


Brave Lise and Nicolas Charlet never cease to amaze us all.


Despite the horrific events they had recently experienced, they continued with their Fun Day, helped by their wonderful family, friends and work colleagues.  Our heartfelt thanks!
